“The subject of the work is covered with newspaper articles, mostly tabloids, chosen for their darkness, their pessimism, obscenity, vulgarity, violence, racism, sexism, etc.” explains Patrick. “The little boy, in his attire of gloom – even his toys are coated with ever darker stories – seems unhappy with the world that awaits him.
As in most of my pictures, I am only trying to capture my own questioning, my anxieties. It does not lead me to find answers, rather more questions. Can childhood really be carefree? What does it mean to become an adult? Can we preserve our inner child? How to find beauty amidst the ugliness?”
